Welcome
Will you be affected by the outcome of US election but are ineligible to vote?
Are you an American who is not allowed to vote - or just not an American?
Would you like to express your democratic view another way?
Well, here at iwishicouldvote.com we believe that the upcoming election of the next ‘leader of the free world’ is so crucial and will affect so many people around the globe that we – the ineligible - can’t just stand by without expressing our view as to who that leader should be. So we’ve set up a shadow election.
You might be an American teenager who cares passionately about the future of your world but are too young to vote; you might be a convicted felon who, nevertheless, cares about the direction America is heading; or you might not have a photo-id but have as much at stake, if not more, as those that do.
Then again, you might not even be American! Two hundred thousand Germans recently turned out to see a visiting American presidential nominee; 15% of polled Canadians said they would rather vote in the US election than their own. People in Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia have serious concerns about climate change, terrorism, nuclear proliferation – and they look to America and its president for leadership.
As in any democratic process there will be differing views. But America really should be interested in those views if it aspires to lead. So, for the next two months, early voting will take place at our online polling station. If you wish you could vote just come in, select a booth and become part of the greatest democratic event the world has ever seen. The results will be announced on October 31st and we expect millions of you to take part. The data gathered by your participation will remain confidential and protected but should you allow us, we’ll use it to conduct some valuable analysis of the global mood.
So, if you wish you could vote in the upcoming US presidential election but can’t – for whatever the reason – go make your shadow vote and let America know what you think (and make sure to tell your ‘ineligible’ but interested friends!)
